This past holiday season, we hosted a series of events for our foster youth and their CASA Volunteers filled with old holiday traditions and introduced a few new ones.
Christmas in the Park & Our NMDs
The first event kicked off with our inaugural tree decorating event at Christmas in the Park located in downtown San Jose on Nov 23, 2021. The tree’s theme was “Aspirations”. CASA Specialists worked diligently with CASA Volunteers to have each NMD’s voice represented on the tree through a star ornament with a written aspiration from the NMD.
Virtual Santa Visit
Directly from the North Pole, Santa Claus joined our foster children and their CASA Volunteer for a magical experience via zoom on Dec 4, 2021. During his visit, Santa read a story to our children. Afterward, he met each child and sibling set for a personal holiday visit.
Annual Holiday Party
Our Annual Holiday Party took place at the Brookside Club of Saratoga on Dec 11, 2021. Over 50 youth participated in holiday activities with their CASA Volunteers. Activities included building ornaments, designing t-shirts and drafting letters to Santa Claus. Read the full event recap.
Our Milpitas office was magically transformed into CASA Village, a holiday workshop filled with festive decor and toys, during December 15 – 19, 2021. CASAs dropped by to pick up gifts for their youth. For many CASAs, this was their first tour of our office. In addition, youth would also stop by with their CASA to select gifts for their family. Our staff worked meticulously to package gifts for our out-of-county youth. All items were donated by the community during our holiday giving initiative.
