Community Spirit Award
Harvard Business School Community Partners recently worked with our Program Department to identify new and innovative ways to best serve our foster youth. Their dedication and collaborative spirit have provided Child Advocates with a clear path forward, helping us every step of the way. We are honored to celebrate them as this year’s Community Spirit Award recipient.
Keynote Speaker
Child Advocates is honored to have Sunnie Uranga as our Mission Speaker at this year’s Black, White & Pink Ball.
As a former foster youth, Sunnie brings both lived experience and deep empathy to her volunteer work raising awareness about the long-term impact of childhood trauma and the critical role that Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) can provide in a child’s life. Since becoming a CASA volunteer in 2016, she has worked with four young people, serving as a consistent, safe and supportive presence in their lives. Sunnie advocates not only in courtrooms, classrooms and healthcare settings, but also in everyday moments, teaching her youth the power of self-compassion and healing through healthy relationships.

About Child Advocates
of Silicon Valley
At any given time, there are approximately 500 children in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System, more commonly referred to as “foster care.” Child Advocates of Silicon Valley serves these children by providing trained, dedicated volunteers to act as advocates at dependency court hearings and serve as consistent role models and mentors.
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers offer a constant adult presence, and their work helps reduce the impact of trauma caused by experiences of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. They work with legal professionals, educators, service providers, and family members to ensure every foster youth’s voice is heard. Child Advocates recruits, trains, and supports Silicon Valley CASA Volunteers, ensuring every foster child has the nurturing support and resources they need to thrive.
