Event Highlights:
On Saturday, February 21, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley hosted an exciting outing for foster teens and their CASA Volunteers at K1 Speed, where youth experienced the thrill of indoor go-kart racing alongside arcade games and time to connect. Designed with connection in mind, the day created opportunities for Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), encouraging confidence, independence, and meaningful bonding between youth and their advocates. From the adrenaline of the racetrack to the fun of the arcade, each moment supported relationship-building in a setting that felt exciting.
As youth arrived, they spent time in the arcade playing games while waiting for their turn on the racetrack. From racing games to basketball hoops, the arcade created a lively and relaxed environment where teens could have fun, interact with one another, and ease into the day.
Once it was time to race, youth geared up and made their way to the track, this time, racing alongside their CASAs. Each participant had the opportunity to race twice, giving them the chance to build confidence and improve with each lap. Friendly competition quickly took over as youth and CASAs raced against each other, cheered one another on, and shared in the excitement. At the end of the races, top racers were awarded medals, giving youth a moment to feel recognized and proud of their accomplishments.
After the races concluded, everyone gathered for dinner. Youth sat alongside their CASAs and peers, sharing highlights from the day—who had the fastest lap, who almost won, and who just enjoyed the ride. This time together allowed relationships to deepen in a more relaxed setting, reinforcing the bonds built through shared experiences earlier in the day.
Events like these provide opportunities for Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), helping foster youth build confidence, develop social connections, and create lasting memories. By simply having the space to have fun, try something new, and spend quality time with a supportive adult, youth are able to experience moments that contribute to their overall well-being.
Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and supporters who make these experiences possible. Because of you, our youth continue to build meaningful connections and enjoy moments of joy and belonging.
