Event: A Day at Veggielution
Date: July 19, 2025
Location: Veggielution, San Jose, CA
Population Served: Foster youth ages 2 – 12
Event Highlights:
On Saturday, July 19, Veggielution partnered with Child Advocates of Silicon Valley to provide foster youth with a day of nature exploration alongside their Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer. Under beautiful summer weather, youth engaged in arts and crafts, tasted a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits straight from the garden and practiced mindfulness by participating in gardening activities.
Upon arrival, attendees were welcomed into the beautiful garden and introduced to various engaging activity stations. Foster youth created flower pounding art, an art form where you transfer flower pigment into a paper or fabric material. Some of their favorite activities included playing with dirt at the worm station and building mud castles.
The purpose of this event was to support foster youth by immersing them in nature, engaging them in mindfulness activities and fostering supportive relationships with their peers and CASA Volunteers. Through hands-on activities and the support of our CASA Volunteers, our youth were able to create positive, fun memories.
Our day at Veggielution was made possible thanks to the dedication of our community partner, Veggielution, along with their staff and volunteers. Through these collaborative efforts, we can continue to offer our foster youth enriching and positive experiences.
“My youth and I started at the worm station and he liked learning about them. We went all around the farm eating vegetables, fruits, and looking for critters. He is enjoying his time at Veggielution. This event helps my youth be in good company with other youths and staff.” -CASA Volunteer
