Event: Graduation Celebration

Population Served: Foster Youth & Non-Minor Dependents (NMDs) in the 2025 graduating class.
Event Highlights:
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, 13 current and former foster youth and Non-Minor Dependents (NMDs) were honored at a special celebration hosted by the San Jose Giants. Surrounded by family, friends, CASAs, and caseworkers, these teens and young adults were recognized for completing high school or post-secondary programs in the 2024–2025 academic year.
Throughout the game, attendees cheered on our home team, the San Jose Giants, ending the night with high emotions as the team won in a close 11–10 match. A highlight of the afternoon came during the 7th inning stretch, when the San Jose Giants featured a congratulatory message on the jumbotron, giving the grads a well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
Once the game ended, each youth received a graduation gift that included a backpack filled with a portable battery pack, gift cards, San Jose Giants swag and more.
The event served as a joyful reminder that these young adults are celebrated, supported and surrounded by a caring community as they take their next steps. This celebration was made possible by the collaborative effort of Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS), Bill Wilson Center, Santa Clara County Office of Education and Pivotal – each of which had representatives in attendance, including Child Advocates’ CEO, Frederick J. Ferrer.
