Population Served: Foster Teens and NMDs ages 13+

Event Highlights:

On Sunday, April 6, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley hosted a special outing for foster teens and their CASA Volunteers at Round 1 Bowling & Amusement, offering a fun-filled day of arcade games, karaoke, bowling and lunch. This event provided youth with the chance to step away from their daily routines and simply enjoy being teens by laughing, bonding and making joyful memories.

With unlimited games and food, the day was designed to provide Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), fostering moments of joy, autonomy and bonding between youth and their Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs).

Connection Through Play

For foster youth, play isn’t just about games, it’s a powerful way to foster trust, confidence and belonging. The variety of activities at Round 1 allowed each youth to lead the way, choose what excited them most, and share those moments with their CASA. Here are some quotes from our CASAs:

“Veronica* got to be in charge of what she was going to do,”

“Ana* loved the arcade! Such a fun time!”

Whether it was cheering each other on at the bowling lanes or teaming up for multiplayer games, the event created a space for connection and joy.

What our Youth Had to Say

The teens couldn’t stop raving about the experience:

“The best part was the games and it was great.”

“I liked the games and being able to have fun with kind people.”

“I LOVED the arcade. I say just getting a card to play ALL the arcade games.”

“It was super fun and lots to do! It was really good—I don’t have any ideas!”

These reflections highlight the importance of providing spaces where youth can experience joy and connection.

Thank you to all of our staff, volunteers and donors who make it possible for us to provide our youth with enriching experiences that support their developmental needs and foster a sense of belonging.
