MILPITAS, CA — Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board member, Melissa Morganstein, a Senior Director at Google Cloud, effective March 26, 2025.
“ I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as a board member for Child Advocates of Silicon Valley. As an HR executive, I’ve spent my career helping people grow, thrive, and reach their potential — and I believe those same principles are critical when it comes to supporting and advocating for foster youth,” said Melissa Morganstein. “I am passionate about ensuring that every child has the guidance, resources, and encouragement they need, especially during their teenage years when strong mentorship and advocacy can make a life-changing difference. I am excited about the opportunity to help shape the future of this incredible organization and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the foster children we serve.”
Melissa’s extensive HR and leadership experience will support the agency’s strategic planning and organizational growth. Her expertise in talent management and inclusive leadership will help Child Advocates foster a culture of belonging and develop innovative approaches to recruit and retain dedicated CASA Volunteers.
Child Advocates has a diverse, active board that represents a range of professional expertise in technology, child welfare, law, business planning, accounting and fundraising. It is the board’s responsibility to provide counsel and oversight in the direction and operation of Child Advocates as well as raise awareness of our CASA Program to help recruit potential volunteers and donors.
About Melissa Morganstein
Melissa brings over 20 years of global human resources and leadership experience, spanning both startups and large enterprises. She excels at translating business strategies into bold people initiatives and implementing solutions that drive critical business outcomes. Currently, Melissa serves as a Senior Director and people Partner for the Machine Learning, Systems, and Cloud AI organization at Google Cloud. In this role, she collaborates closely with C-level engineering executives, providing strategic HR and talent management insights across multiple businesses. Before joining Google, Melissa was Vice President and HR Business Partner for the Networking and Data Center organization, overseeing HR for a $20 billion business with more than 10,000 employees worldwide. Passionate about advocacy, Melissa is committed to amplifying diverse voices and fostering inclusive workplaces. She has a deep dedication to mentoring and developing early-career talent, helping shape the next generation of leaders.
About Child Advocates of Silicon Valley
Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is an independent nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization created in 1986. We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. We are responsible for operating the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program in Santa Clara County, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers according to the National CASA Association standards.
