Event: O’Leary Golf Classic

Event Highlights:
On Monday, August 26, over 130 golfers and prominent Silicon Valley corporate and philanthropic leaders gathered to support foster youth at our 19th Annual O’Leary Golf Classic. The event brought together returning participants and first-time attendees, offering the perfect mix of networking and impact as participants SHOWED UP for foster youth on the golf course, raising nearly $200,000!
The day kicked off bright and early at 10:30 a.m. as participants checked in and picked up their Child Advocates of Silicon Valley’s branded coolers, which they promptly filled with ice and their favorite drinks. Before teeing off, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch of sandwiches or wraps and participated in our exciting raffle options.
With bellies full and coolers packed, it was time to take on the 18-hole tournament at one of California’s most exclusive golf courses. On the green, participants competed for both individual and team-based awards.

As the golfers completed the tournament, they returned to the clubhouse for a lively cocktail hour, setting the stage for our evening reception and dinner, where we would hear from our mission speaker, celebrate the day’s winners, and cap off the event with an exciting live auction.
With everyone back from the course, dinner was announced, and participants filled their plates before settling in for the evening program. While enjoying their meals, Frederick Ferrer, the CEO of Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, took the stage to speak about our mission and announce the winner of the Walter “Skip” Shaw Inspiration Award, BMC, for their exceptional commitment to our youth. Following Fred, Board Member Ehi Oiyemhonlan delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of having role models and shared his personal experience as a Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteer (CASA). With these inspiring words said, it was time for more fun with our live auction!
Our live auction included packages for golfing in Napa Valley, a private dinner by Chef Toni, a personalized golf bag stand and many more exciting items! Altogether, this year’s event raised almost $200,000, helping to ensure every child, youth and non-minor dependent (NMD) in Santa Clara County’s foster care system has the resources needed to thrive.
