Event: A Day at Animal Assisted Happiness
Date: July 14, 2024
Location: Animal Assisted Happiness, Sunnyvale, CA
Population Served: Foster youth ages 3+
On July 14, 2024, our foster youth enjoyed a sunny day with farm animals, thanks to our community partner, Animal Assisted Happiness! The focus of this event was to give our youth positive childhood experiences through nature and play.
As our youth entered Animal Assisted Happiness, they were filled with excitement seeing all of their favorite animals. Attendees had fun cuddling bunnies, petting goats, and meeting miniature horses. The main highlight of the event was the guinea pig station, where youth enjoyed watching playful guinea pigs up close.
Our youth filled the farm with laughter and joy as they learned and played with different animals. Throughout these interactions, our youth bonded with their CASA Volunteers, strengthening their relationships.
Events like these provide foster youth with enriching experiences that contribute to their emotional and social development and create positive childhood memories. Interacting with animals, nature and the community around them can reduce stress, improve mood, and build confidence. These positive interactions are essential in nurturing our youth’s resilience and self-esteem.
We extend our gratitude to Animal Assisted Happiness for LIFTING UP foster youth and making this event possible. We look forward to continuing our visits and creating opportunities to form positive memories for our foster youth.
