Event: Pumpkin Patch
Date: October 7, 2023
Location: Animal Assisted Happiness, Sunnyvale, CA
Population Served: Current Foster Youth (All Ages)
Event Highlights:
From furry friends to robotics and pumpkin decorating, our third annual Pumpkin Patch had something for every youth in attendance. Accompanied by their CASA, 27 youth joined us at Animal Assisted Happiness, a therapeutic farm with barnyard animal attractions.
Upon attending, guests were welcomed and challenged to partake in a scavenger hunt that would lead them through all of the event’s sites and activities. First stop, Fairy Village. Youth had two activities to choose from here, a Robotics station provided by Future Robotics and the ever so popular pumpkin decorating station.
From there guests could partake in an array of lawn games while stopping to visit the ducks and guinea pigs. More games awaited our youth at the neighboring bunnies and tortoise exhibits. And yes, children were allowed to hold and pet the bunnies.
A stop near the red barn included an opportunity to have your face painted and a snack station to keep guests nourished and hydrated. Just passed the red barn, youth got to show off their pumpkin carving skills to the neighboring goats and piggies. To mark this occasion, CASAs and their youth were able to walk away with freshly printed photos from our photo booth.
“My youth was enamored by all of the animals. She got to hug a goat, which she was so excited about! She also enjoyed getting her face painted and bowling with pumpkins. The slime prize after her winning Bingo was a hit!” – CASA Volunteer
This event was a huge success and made possible by the generosity of our pumpkin donors: Trader Joe’s, Concrete Rose Coalition, 408 Niner Squad.
