MILPITAS, CA — Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board member Rosie Tichener, Senior Manager at McAfee, effective October 26, 2022.

“We are pleased to welcome Rosie as a new board member. She brings extensive work experience in project management and is grounded in serving Silicon Valley’s most vulnerable community,” said Frederick J. Ferrer, CEO of Child Advocates. ”Additionally, she has experience advocating for the children we serve through her service as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer and understands firsthand the impact a caring adult can have on a foster child.”

Tichener will provide a culturally and generationally diverse perspective on the agency’s board. Her experience as a Latina and serving the Hispanic community will provide strategic insight into how we better serve Hispanic youth in the Dependency Court System. Also, as a current CASA Volunteer, she will help Child Advocates strengthen the CASA Program by implementing Advocacy Plans. This tool will help the agency measure the efficacy of the program.

“As a board member, I hope to be an active ambassador and leverage my experience as a CASA Volunteer to improve the advocacy program further and suggest additional resources to impact the lives of the children and youth positively,” said newly elected board member Rosie Tichener. “It is so rewarding to know that being part of this organization, you truly live the mission. It is evident when you see the children smile and read all the wonderful stories and know that these stories will be carried as memories created because of Child Advocates.”

Child Advocates has a diverse, active board that represents a range of professional expertise in technology, child welfare, law, business planning, accounting and fundraising. It is the Board’s responsibility to provide counsel and oversight in the direction and operation of Child Advocates as well as raise awareness of our CASA program to help recruit potential volunteers and donors.
