LGBTQ+ youth and their Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers joined our team for our inclusive event, LGBTQ+ Social @ Topgolf. The social took place at Topgolf San Jose on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Attendees enjoyed a beautiful weather day filled with golf-related activities at the venue’s high-tech driving range. During the first hour of the event, the youth and their CASAs had an instructional coach assisting first-timers in perfecting their golf swings. After mastering the new skill, our golfers were ready to play and take aim at the giant outfield targets. Following the friendly competition, attendees enjoyed lunch at the lounge where everyone gathered to socialize. The day concluded with another round of fun at the hitting bays.
When foster youth experience trauma, there is an even greater need for supportive relationships. Social events in a safe space, like our LGBTQ+ Social @ Topgolf, create a supportive environment to build relationships which is imperative when creating positive outcomes for our youth. By the end of the event, our LGBTQ+ youth build social connections and allies to support healthy, positive and loving identities.
