Child Advocates Recognized by SCC Department of Family and Children’s Services

On September 10, 2021, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley was recognized as an Outstanding Community Partner by the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) at its Virtual Family Renunciation Day event. Held annually, this event is hosted by DFCS to celebrate all families from the Santa Clara County Dependency Court system that were recently reunified and to recognize partners for their commitment to helping reunify families. Five families were celebrated at this year’s event.

Child Advocates was nominated for recognition by the Dependency Advocacy Center (DAC), a justice partner providing interdisciplinary family defense legal services to indigent parents and children involved in Santa Clara County’s child welfare system. DAC nominated Child Advocates for the work we did, in partnership with them, to help children and families affected by COVID-19. This included: assisting with the purchase of laptops for parents to conduct virtual visits and services; securing rental assistance; and working with DAC to obtain an emergency grant for bus tokens and gas cards for families in need of transportation assistance.

In honor of our commitment to help reunify families, Child Advocates was presented with a Commendation Plaque from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
