Art of Pride Recap

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley staff, Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteers, partners and foster youth gathered to celebrate Pride through a virtual art show, Art of Pride.

The event kicked off with a group welcome chat led by CEO, Frederick J. Ferrer about what Pride means to each individual participating. After everyone shared, LGBTQ+ community partners, LGBTQ Youth Space and Q Corner, spoke about available tools, supports and resources for our LGBTQ+ youth and allies.

Following the partners’ brief comments, CASA Specialist, Nicholas Aguilar, played an inspirational video from the It Gets Better Project for the audience. The video interviewed comedian Margaret Cho’s experience as a member of the LGBTQ community and highlighted the importance of celebrating and loving one’s self. After the video, the audience viewed all the art submissions through a gallery showcase where artists shared their inspiration for their artwork.

Below are a few of the art submissions from staff, CASA Volunteers and our children.
