MILPITAS, CA — Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of new board member, Leslie Rodriguez, Partner at California Strategies, LLC.
“We are pleased to welcome Leslie as a new board member. She brings extensive work experience in public policy, is grounded in the Silicon Valley community and has a real understanding of the children we serve,” said Frederick J. Ferrer, CEO of Child Advocates.
Having deep experience in policy that reaches high into a governor’s administration, Rodriguez provides unsurpassed strategic counsel and implements key strategies designed to provide clients the best way forward as they look to navigate proposed and current regulations laid out by elected leaders and state agencies.
“I am so delighted to be joining the Board of Directors because all kids, especially those in foster care, urgently need a caring adult who can look out for them. Child Advocates makes kids the center of their mission,” said Rodriguez. “I look forward to supporting the work of Child Advocates as they care for individual children and seek to make lasting systemic change to better care for kids and their families.”
Child Advocates has a diverse, active board that represents a range of professional expertise in technology, child welfare, law, business planning, accounting and fundraising. It is the Board’s responsibility to provide counsel and oversight in the direction and operation of Child Advocates as well as raise awareness of our CASA program to help recruit potential volunteers and donors.
About Leslie Rodriguez
Leslie Rodriguez is a partner at California Strategies, LLC and is based in the Silicon Valley. She is a veteran in public policy having served in both the public and private sector over her 20-year career. She worked in State Government as Governor Schwarzenegger’s Deputy Director of External Affairs and Communications, and prior to that she served as the Chief of Staff to the Superintendent of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District. She has extensive experience across the legislative, executive, and regulatory branches of government at multiple levels of government. Since joining California Strategies as a partner, she has focused her public affairs work on advancing education, housing access and public welfare in her community. She holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in social policy research from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics.

Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is an independent nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization created in 1986. We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. We are responsible for operating the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers.
