Red Ladder Partners with Child Advocates to Offer Arts/Theatre Programming

We’re excited to announce that Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is partnering with Red Ladder Theatre Company – a nationally acclaimed, award-winning social justice theatre company –  to provide all ages of our foster youth with programming that builds resiliency and self-esteem! This partnership is made possible by a grant from SVCREATES.

Red Ladder Theatre Company has a long history of working with youth of all ages. Their programming is based on the understanding that young people grow and thrive when they are given the opportunity to be deeply connected with their creativity. Our youth will have an opportunity to work with the professional actors in the Red Ladder Theatre Company, who will guide them through activities that encourage them to explore the issues that affect their daily lives. By applying the tools and techniques of the creative process, participants will develop the ability to make positive choices, solve problems creatively, focus on tasks and work collaboratively.

Normally, the activities offered would occur in-person, but that isn’t possible given the state of COVID-19. Knowing that the youth we serve need this now more than ever, the Child Advocates leadership team is working with Red Ladder Theatre Company to find creative ways to offer our youth programming in the near future, while still adhering to shelter-in-place orders.

As we plan, Child Advocates staff will be gathering information from its CASA Volunteers to learn how to best deliver this programming to our foster youth.

We are really excited about this new partnership and believe it will help us in our efforts to LIFT UP our youth. We look forward to launching the programming as soon as possible and will provide more information as it becomes available.
